Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has refuted claims of a move for Sassuolo defender Thomas Manfredini on Twitter.
Il Doria are in the market for a replacement after concluding the sale of star defender Shkodran Mustafi to Valencia for a fee of €10 million.
Manfredini was rumoured to be one of the names on the list to replace the German star, but Ferrero has dismissed the notion of a potential move.
“Who is this Manfredini?”, Ferrero posted on his Twitter page, effectively putting to rest any speculation of a move.
Sampdoria are now expected to move on to other targets with Zenit Saint Petersberg’s 31 year old defender Aleksandar Lukovic one of the main priorities.
