Swansea City coach Garry Monk has confirmed that the Welsh side are discussing personal terms with the Argentine defender Federico Fernandez after an agreement was reached with Napoli.
A fee of €10 million has reportedly been agreed between the clubs for the 25-year-old and the player himself has stopped training as with Napoli as he prepares to travel to Wales and finalise the move that would see the Partenopei make a profit of €5.5m for the player they signed from Estudiantes in 2011.
“We’ve had a good chat with Federico [Fernandez], there are a few details to be ironed out but then he will be over for his medical,” confirmed Monk at a Swansea press conference.
“We will be getting a very good player who has played at the top level with Napoli and Argentina in the World Cup.
“He will definitely add quality to the squad.”
Fernandez made 26 Serie A appearances for Napoli during the 2013-14 Serie A season and he has picked up two Coppa Italia winner’s medals during his time with the Azzurri.
