Italian giants AC Milan will play host to Argentine club and Copa Libertadores winners San Lorenzo in the Luigi Berlusconi Trophy.

The one-off match has been played since 1991 and this year’s edition will be played at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on November 5.

“We are very pleased and grateful for the invitation from AC Milan,” said San Lorenzo president Matias Lammens on the club website. “We’ll be there.”

San Lorenzo will use the match as a warm-up for the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in Morocco from December 17-21.

This will be the seventh time that San Lorenzo has played an Italian club but it will be the first time that they will play against AC Milan.

Lazio were the last Italian opponent that the Azulgrana have played against and the Biancocelesti won that match 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on 19 August 1995.

The only time San Lorenzo defeated an Italian team was when they defeated Genoa 1-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in February 1956.
