Ashley Cole has paid tribute to Roma’s fans following their 1 – 0 victory away at Empoli on Saturday.

The Giallorossi earned their second win of the season thanks to an own goal from Empoli’s on loan Napoli goalkeeper Luigi Sepe.

The former Chelsea full back wrote on his Twitter account, “Great to get another three points for the fans. The support and atmosphere was amazing.”

There have been rumours that the Englishman was struggling to settle in at the Stadio Olimpico and was keen on a move to the MLS, despite only joining last season’s Serie A runners up on a free transfer in July.

Indeed, Cole was the subject of ridicule as a result of a squad photo that emerged in which he is standing  adrift from his team mates.

However, these latest comments combined with the 33 year old has played all 90 minutes of Roma’s first two games helping them keep two clean sheets may persuade him to stay.
