Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello was surprised when he heard news of Andrea Consigli’s move to Sassuolo.
The move went through on Monday, with Consigli left out of the Nerazzurri squad that drew 0 – 0 with Hellas Verona in Serie A on Sunday.
“I was not expecting the move and I am sorry that a friend has left the team,” Marco Spotiello told TuttoAtalanta.com.
“In addition to being a great goalkeeper, Andrea is a great man.”
Sportiello started in goal for the Hellas Verona game and did well to keep a clean sheet.
Consigli made 35 appearances for Atalanta in the Serie A last season keeping nine clean sheets in the process.
