Florenzi - Italy v ArmeniaItaly midfielder Alessandro Florenzi is glad to be back in the national team after the Azzurri’s 2-0 victory against Norway.

The Roma midfielder started the match and struggled in the first half and received a yellow card for a foul before half-time.

Florenzi’s performance improved in the second half and he said that having the Juventus players in the squad helps the other Italian players understand Antonio Conte’s methods.

“I am very happy for this return in the national team,” Florenzi told RAI Sport. “Us players work for this. It is our greatest honour.

“In the first half, I could not find the right position [but] I played better in the second half.

“The Juventus players helped us understand the coach’s ideas.”

Despite an impressive campaign with Roma last season, Florenzi failed to make Cesare Prandelli’s World Cup squad in June.

“There was great disappointment because I had not participated at the World Cup but Prandelli made his technical choices and we took note of them.”
