Francesco Guidolin is reportedly close to severing all ties with the Pozzo family and leaving his position as technical director for Udinese and the two other Pozzo-owned clubs.

The 58-year old former Zebrette coach stepped down last May after an extremely successful four year tenure in Udine and assumed his current role for Granada, Watford and Udinese.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Giampaolo Pozzo and his staff are working to terminate Guidolin’s contract and may conclude the negotiations within a week’s time.

The veteran coach was hailed for his tactics and penchant for scouting and developing young talent which Udinese used to finance the club, turning a tidy profit on a multitude of players during Guidolin’s helm.

The Bianconeri reached previously unimaginable heights when Guidolin guided the club to third and fourth place Serie A finishes, good enough to qualify for a Champions League playoff positions, however at each stage the Zebrette were unfortunate and could not advance to the group stage losing to Arsenal and Braga on penalty kicks.
