Following the racial abuse of Enock Barwuah, brother of Italy’s international and Liverpool player Mario Balotelli, an investigation has been opened to look into the incident.

Barwuah plays for Vallecamonica and during an Eccellenza match – Italy’s fifth tier – against Boario, the player was racially abused with various chants heard around the stadium.

As a result, the prosecutor of Brescia opened an investigation, and with the help of the DIGOS [Divisione Investigazioni Generali e Operazioni Speciali] of Brescia.

The president and the press officer of Boario have been called as witnesses and the investigators have since acquired images of the game in order to identify those responsible for racist chanting towards the attacker.

DIGOS has referred a 30 year old fan of Boario to the judicial authorities for racial discrimination and incitement of violence.

With regards to the attacks, Barwuah said, “I was heavily insulted and I do not understand why there is so much rage.”
