The 45-year-old has received much praise since signing on as Cesare Prandelli’s successor and Mangia is confident that the ex-Juventus tactician knows exactly what needs to be done in order to get the Azzurri back into top form.

Mangia spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Conte becoming the new Italy coach this summer and commented on the younger players that have been making their way into the country’s senior squad.

“I think Conte is the right person for the national team and came in just at the right time,” said the current Bari boss.

“He has the necessary qualities to restart the whole project. Something he said the other day really struck me, about how he wanted his team to be something special.

“Younger players in the national team? I’m happy that some players like Alessandro Florenzi, Ciro Immobile, Mattia De Sciglio, Mattia Destro and Stephan El Shaarawy have won places with the senior team.

“I’m convinced that there will be many other youth players who will eventually be taken into consideration.”
