Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has spoken following his side’s 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening against Chievo.

Goals from Daniele Gastaldello and Alessio Romagnoli ensure the Blucerchiati maintain their unbeaten start to the season and face their city rivals Genoa on Sunday evening.

“The defenders need to defend better and we should not be conceding a goal so late in the game, we need to mark the opposition better,” the Serbian tactician told Rai Sport following the match.

“We were good at creating chances but not good at finishing.

“Paloschi’s goal came shortly after our own but the most important thing was to win the match and we succeeded in doing so, now we must prepare for the derby.

“Everyone did well and we changed a lot of players from the weekend, we gave away very little so we deserved the victory.”

Mihajlovic has been coach of Sampdoria since November 2013 and has also coached Bologna, Fiorentina and Catania.
