AS Roma president James Pallotta has spoken to fans regarding the club’s latest project to build a new stadium.

The Giallorossi are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Serie A rivals Juventus in constructing and owning their own ground, something that has been hugely successful for the current Scudetto champions.

Speaking to Radio Roma, Pallotta said, “We have prepared this important project for Roma. Hopefully everything will go through quickly.

“There is still a lot to do.  The stadium will attract many types of events, not only football.”

When probed about how it would be funded the president said, “It will be built completely with private funds. And it will all be for the benefit of the city. It will be one of the biggest projects in Italy for many a year.”

Roma came close to winning the league title last season after winning their first ten matches of the campaign. However, a dip in form allowed the Bianconeri to become champions for a third successive year.
