Lazio boss Stefano Pioli has revealed that the capital city club will be looking for a victory in their meeting with Cesena on Sunday.

The Biancocelesti will be hosting the Seahorses at the Stadio Olimpico and the tactician insists that his team have been making the necessary improvements after their 3-1 loss to AC Milan on August 31, especially when it comes to defending against counter-attacks.

Pioli spoke during his pre-match press conference on Saturday about what Lazio must do to overcome Cesena and who he might use in his squad, while also commenting on the importance of the fans’ support.

“These past two weeks haven’t been very easy, as we had half of our team here and half away for international duty,” said the 48-year-old.

“Even so, I believe that we have taken the positives and negatives from the defeat to Milan and will bring our best game to secure the three points tomorrow.

“It’s important for us to focus more on Cesena’s counter-attacks, which have made us suffer in the match against Milan. Cesena won their first match while we didn’t, but this isn’t a delicate game and we can do well.

“How important is the support of our fans? It’s obviously important and gives us a positive boost, but we must gain their full support with our performances and must get three points.

“We must combine our performances with results, it’s important to play as a team for the entire 90 minutes. We must be more determined and conclusive in our attack.

“I’m still deciding who will start and who will be used as substitutes by looking at the match with Milan and how everyone has been doing in training since then.

“Everyone will have a chance as long as they maintain the proper attitudes and leave the choices up to the coach and I will continue interacting with everyone.

“Unfortunately Federico Marchetti and Ederson are still recovering from injury and will not be able to play until they’re at 100 per cent.

“Marco Parolo is doing well, he just had a child and this is an important feeling for him. He did fine in training so there shouldn’t be any difficulties for him.

“I still have to evaluate Ogenyi Onazi, but Danilo Cataldi and Santiago Gentiletti may be useful in the team.”
