Former Genoa defender Daniele Portanova has revealed that he has always dreamed of playing for Lazio, though he understands that a move to the capital city club may not be possible at this time.

The 35-year-old, who is currently a free agent after being released from his contract with the Grifone on September 1, has admitted that he had hoped for a move to the Biancocelesti at various points throughout his career but nothing was ever able to materialise.

Portanova spoke to LaLazioSiamoNoi.it about his dreams of becoming a Lazio player before he hangs up his boots and confirmed that his latest contact with the club resulted in failure.

“Throughout my life I have always dreamed of becoming a Lazio player, but it is still yet to happen,” said the Rome-native.

“There was a little bit of contact a short time ago, but the answer I received is that they are fully booked in their defensive department.”
