Roma have completed the loan signing of Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
The Giallorossi had been in the transfer market to replace Mehdi Benatia, and have settled on Kostas Manolas and now Yanga-Mbiwa.
Newcastle confirmed the deal on their official website, with the loan fee reported by La Repubblica to be €1.5 million.
The 25-year-old will provide depth to a Roma defence which was one of the sturdiest in last season’s Serie A, conceding just 25 goals in all 38 league games.
The Frenchman had previously been linked with Ligue 1 side Marseille, but a deal never materialised.
Yanga-Mbiwa signed for Newcastle for €10.75m in January 2013.
