David Trezeguet JuventusJuventus legend David Trezeguet believes Antonio Conte is the right man to lead Italy forward after a disappointing showing at this summer’s World Cup.

The former Juventus coach was appointed Azzurri boss following the 2014 World Cup and Cesare Prandelli’s subsequent resignation.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the former French international gave his approval of the appointment.

“He is the right man for the job,” said Trezeguet.

“Not only for what he has proven at Juventus. Conte is the right man to restart the national team.

“Italy need someone who will focus on players like [Ciro] Immobile and [Simone] Zaza.

He concluded by stating his belief that Conte should be allowed time to implement his own style on the team.

“Now we have to leave him some time, but the important thing is that Conte has given the team an interesting imprint.”

Trezeguet played over 200 times for the Bianconeri and is currently playing in the Indian Super League with Pune City.
