AC Milan coach Pippo Inzaghi must decide whether Christian Abbiati or Diego Lopez will be his first-choice goalkeeper.
Lopez featured in the Rossoneri’s opening two fixtures before suffering an injury in the 5-4 win over Parma but Abbiati has given Izaghi a decision to make after impressing since coming back into the side, especially during the 3-1 away win at Hellas Verona on October 19.
Abbiati announced his intention to remain in goal after the Verona win to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Have I put Inzaghi in a difficult position? This is my favourite sport and I’ve never been a player who is happy to sit on the bench,” the stopper said.
“Diego Lopez is a great goalkeeper and I’ll be calm if on Sunday I have to sit on the bench.
“In the summer when the Spaniard arrived at Milan I said to [Adriano] Galliani and [Pippo] Inzaghi that I was with them and understood the decision.
“I was meant to be the back-up for a season but then Lopez got injured and who knows what will happen now.”
The Rossoneri’s next fixture is at home to Fiorentina on October 28.
