A lacklustre showing at the World Cup in Brazil has garnered much criticism for the side, the former Juventus boss has convinced the midfield maestro to attempt rekindle their club triumphs together, but for the Azzurri.

“The conductor of Juventus can still give two years at a high level,” Conte told the press, “before a final European Championships then saying goodbye to the national team.”

Pirlo announced prior to the World Cup that he would not to play for his country after returning from Brazil, but was called upon as a late replacement for the injured Giacomo Bonaventura, for Italy’s qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Malta.
