Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli reportedly has until January to save his career at the club following an uninspiring start to life on Merseyside.

The Italian forward joined Liverpool from AC Milan in the summer, but he has struggled for form, consistently producing lacklustre performances and attracting the ire of supporters and his manager.

The Mirror reports that Brenden Rodgers’ patience with the striker is wearing thin and he will attempt to bring in a replacement for the 24 year old during the winter transfer window unless Balotelli begins to start performing at a higher level.

Despite having the second most shots per game of any striker in any of the top five divisions in Europe, Balotelli has failed to score in the Premier League so far this season.

The player’s behaviour has also come under scrutiny after he was fined for swapping shirts with with Real Madrid’s Pepe at half time during his side’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
