The former Parma goalkeeper, who played his 500th game for the Bianconeri on Wednesday, reached the milestone in the 1-0 defeat to Genoa.
“What would I give to win the Champions League? 200 of my 500 appearances,” Buffon told Juventus’ official Twitter account.
“It doesn’t matter that my 500th appearance was a defeat, as every defeat is painful.”
On the topic of his 500 Juve appearances, the 36-year-old discussed how he never expected to reach such a number.
“I never thought I would make it, even thought I am an optimist by nature,” he continued.
“I am moderately satisfied with 500, although there a still a few more to come.”
With the Italian national team goalkeeper contracted until the end of this season, and with a renewal being talked about, Buffon has high hopes for this season.
“We should reach at least the quarter-finals of the Champions League and win Serie A,” he stated.
In a question and answer session, Buffon also looked back on his 13-year career with the Old Lady.
“I would have liked to have played with Zinedine Zidane, he was a champion,” Buffon said.
“My favourite game was the Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid [which Juve won 4-3 on aggregate].
“I am most fond of the 2002 Scudetto, it was completely unexpected and the first of three.”
Juventus play Empoli on Saturday, a game in which Buffon is expected to make his 501st Bianconeri appearance.
