Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has apparently agreed to extend his contract at the Serie A Champions until June 2017.

The 36 year-old World Cup winner joined the Bianconeri from Parma in the summer of 2001, signing for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper of €51 million.

According to SportMediaset, the agreement on the new contract has been found, but the official announcement will not be made until Buffon has put pen to paper.

Buffon was asked about his contract renewal talks when speaking before Juventus’ Champions League tie against Olympiacos in Athens on Wednesday evening.

“I have not renewed yet, but there are no problems either. There is a sense of unity with the staff and the president, we are talking about it and soon everything will be defined.”

The current national team captain has made 393 appearances for Juventus, amassing 145 caps since his debut in 1997 for the Azzurri and is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers ever to grace the game.
