Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini took things in stride after netting a brace for the Azzurri while also finding the back of the wrong net as his side triumphed 2-1 over Azerbaijan.
The national team continued their winning run thanks to the Juventus defender claiming his ‘hat-trick’ of sorts in a match where the Azzurri struggled to put the Milli away.
”I did everything tonight, good and bad!,” Chiellini joked following his three goals while speaking to Rai Sport.
”’It would’ve been a shame had we not won but we did and it was fully deserved.
”Considering how the new era has begun it was only mandatory that we won and the performance showed that.
”We are working hard and look enthusiastic. We did make some mistakes but we sorted them out.
”The own goal? The ball came out of nowhere and I couldn’t get out of the way.”
