Italy wing-back Matteo Darmian has expressed his delight after Italy recorded a 2-1 win over Azerbaijan in their Euro 2016 qualifier.
Italy took the lead through Giorgio Chellini’s headed opener, before the defender scored an own-goal to make things level. Chellini would go from hero to villain to hero again as he put Italy ahead with eight minutes to play.
“The victory is well deserved,” he told the press.
“We did very well to react to their equaliser.
“We played a very good game in my opinion and we did some great things.”
The goal conceded is the only one that Italy have conceded under Antonio Conte’s short reign as national team coach.
