Daniele De Rossi believes that Roma are ready to face the might of Bayern Munich, after a period of progression and development over the past year.

De Rossi cut an optimistic figure at the pre-match press conference, alongside coach Rudi Garcia, as he revealed he and his team-mates have little fear about not progressing through the group stages.

“I’m sure we can go through. I’ve seen enough from our play and how we approached the first two games,” the midfielder said.

“The atmosphere of the Champions League always sends a shiver down your spine, it’s the biggest competition there is.

“Our ambitions have changed since our last meeting with Bayern. That’s down to our performances last season. If we play like we can and take the game to them, we’ll make the fans proud. We’re not looking to draw the match.”

De Rossi agreed with the enormity of the task facing Roma but insisted that trusting their abilities and remembering to enjoy their football will be key in overseeing Bayern.

“We’re at our best when we play with a smile on our faces. We’ll go out there to win, we’ve got some experienced players,” he added.

Roma defeated Bayern 3-2 the last time the two sides met in the Champions League and will go top if they repeat that triumph on Tuesday night.
