Empoli youngster set for Italy call-up

Daniele Rugani of Empoli The young defender Daniele Rugani, currently on loan from Juventus to Empoli, is set to be called up to the Italy squad by coach Antonio Conte.

Rugani has seen success with Italy’s U21 sicde, scoring a goal in a European youth qualifier against Northern Ireland this spring. In addition to his recent achievements, Rugani has represented Italy at virtually every youth level from U17 to U21.

The center back’s success with the Azzurrini has not gone unnoticed by Conte, and along with the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Angelo Ogbonna, and Andrea Ranocchia, Rugani is being considered by Conte for Italy’s upcoming October Euro 2016 qualifying games against Azerbaijan and Malta.

Rugani has started for Empoli in every match of this season and scored one goal against Cesena on September 20.
