Sebastian Giovinco believes that that Italy need a figure like coach Antonio Conte to progress as a nation.
The Juventus attacker came on late from the bench on Friday and livened up the attacking intent of the Azzurri as they went on to claim a 2-1 win over Azerbaijan.
”I am pleased with our performance and we grabbed the win as well, which was the main task,” Giovinco told Rai Sport.
”I sent out a signal during this game and showed my ability, I hit the woodwork and I’ve done well before for Juventus, and I hope that I soon find the net.”
Despite never nailing down a place in the starting team for Juventus under Conte, he is pleased the coach picks him for the national side.
”It is a little weird as we are used to each other for the Bianconeri, but the Azzurri needed a figure like Conte,” Giovinco continued.
”He hasn’t changed a bit from his days at Juve!”
