Inter midfielder Hernanes says the team will be fresher following the international break and that facing Napoli will be a great opportunity to get back on track.

The Nerazzurri sit 10th in Serie A after losing their last two league games heavily to Cagliari and Fiorentina, and face Rafa Benitez’s side at the San Siro on Sunday evening.

“In the last two games we have not done well and now we want to restart,” the Brazilian international told Inter Channel.

“We expect a great match to go ahead and reach the places in the table that count.

“We know that we must not give up, for me, the [international] break was important because I have had two months and 10 days of intensive work to get in top physical shape. Using this as a foundation we can do well on Sunday and for the other games.”

Inter claimed a 2-0 win over Azerbaijani champions Qarabag in the Europa League in between a 4-1 humiliating home defeat to Zdenek Zeman’s Cagliari and a 3-0 defeat in Florence, and the 29-year-old has called for a good performance against Napoli to get the fans back onside.

“Unfortunately, the last two games have tarnished our good start, but now we do not want to leave points on the road, we have a team that can do well.

“In Europe the fans helped us after the bad game in the league [v Cagliari] and now I’m expecting a big game [v Napoli] to react. We want the crowd to be with us, we will try to do everything to make the fans closer to the team.”
