World Cup winner Vincenzo Iaquina, who hung up his boots this summer, has insisted that he only has one regret from his long player career, that he never got the chance to play a significant part in Juventus’ resurgence under coach Antonio Conte.

The man who spent seven seasons with Udinese, was injured shortly after Conte’s appointment and never played a competitive match under the Italian and thus didn’t receive a Scudetto medal, eventually departing for a brief spell at Cesena as the Old Lady clinched the Serie A title

“My only regret is not having played a major role of a Juventus with Conte, a team with a unique mindset,” Iaquinta told Tuttosport.

“The rest of my career I would repeat everything again.

“Conte doted on me, unfortunately I got injured. I’ve heard so many lies.

“It was savagery, absurd and meaningless, at that time I suffered a lot because I was injured.”
