Paris Saint Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims that Serie A is the hardest league in the world to be a striker.

The 33-year-old played for Juventus, Inter and AC Milan during his time in Italy, where he won the Scudetto in all but one season.

“Italy is the most difficult and competitive league for a striker,” Ibrahimovic told the Guardian.

They still think that it is more important not to concede a goal than to score one. In Spain they want to score a goal and then a second and a third.”

The Swede netted 108 goals across seven seasons in Italy, finishing as top scorer twice and being awarded numerous other individual accolades.

Ibrahimovic also spoke highly of former coach José Mourinho, whom he worked with for one season at Inter.

“Mourinho is very intelligent,” Ibra continued. “He always knows how to treat everyone in the same way and get 100 per cent out of his players.

“Is he the most intelligent coach I’ve ever had? Yes,  because of the way in which he approaches the players and manipulates them to do their best without any doubt.”
