Italy v Netherlands - Immobile and ZazaItaly forward Ciro Immobile believes that he and Simone Zaza are doing their best to form a promising partnership under new coach Antonio Conte.

The Azzurri defeated Azerbaijan 2-1 in Palermo thanks to a brace from Giorgio Chiellini on Friday, and the 24-year-old believes that claiming a victory was the most important aspect of the game.

“The coach is choosing me and Zaza and we are trying to do our best, even though we can’t score in every match,” he said whilst speaking to Rai after the game.

“We think of the good of the national team and the victory today was the most important thing.”

The man who made the move abroad to the Bundesliga and Borussia Dortmund back in July also praised the Italian fans for their support in what turned out to be more difficult game than expected for the national side.

“The fans were fantastic today, the stadium was full and they give us a big reception.”

“It was a tough game, Conte has many ideas and we tried to put those into practice and do what we were told but they were well organised, closed us down and didn’t give us a lot of space.”
