Andrea Pirlo ItalyItaly are expected to play a 3-5-2 formation in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Azerbaijan on Friday night.

The Azzurri will be playing against the Milli in Palermo as Antonio Conte’s side currently share top spot in Group H with Croatia and Bulgaria.

ANSA report that Conte will stick with the back three formation that he has implemented with the Azzurri so far.

Italy will be without Thiago Motta and Pablo Osvaldo who withdrew because of injury and youngster Daniele Rugani, who has dropped back to the Azzurrini to deputise for the injured Alessio Romagnoli.

Veteran playmaker Andrea Pirlo returned from injury for his club Juventus on the weekend but Conte looks set to bring him straight back into the Italy starting line-up.

Probably Italy starting line-up:

Italy (3-5-2): Buffon; Ranocchia, Bonucci, Chiellini; Darmian, Florenzi, Pirlo, Marchisio, Pasqual; Zaza, Immobile

Substitutes:

Sirigu, Perin, Ogbonna, De Sciglio, Aquilani, Candreva, Parolo, Verratti, Destro, Giovinco, Pellè.
