Speaking to the press after his side’s 6-2 defeat to Napoli, Andrea Mandorlini has explained that he thought the result was harsh on his players.

After going in front in the first minute, Verona capitulated in the second half and in the end were thrashed by a rampant Partenopei side.

“The game changed when they [Napoli] made it 3-2. Nicolas Lopez scored and then we gave a goal away too easily,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

“The fourth goal came on a fast break and in the end we played into the hands of a quality Napoli side.

“The result was a bit heavy, the team did not deserve it. But if you do not risk losing by more you will not win.”

Verona will play host to an in form Lazio side on Thursday in an attempt to quickly put this result in the back of their minds.
