Inter coach Walter Mazzarri has said that his side are living a difficult period following their defeat to Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri were defeated 3-0 by Vincenzo Montella’s men at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday night, and the former Napoli coach has said that his side need to improve their form.

“We have problems that we can no longer hide,” he told Sky. “In our next game we must recover.

“I made some changes in the second half and the team improved, but we were unlucky to find the net on some occasions.

“It’s a difficult period for us, we have to do better.”

Mazzarri then went on to say that he does not think that the Nerazzurri’s game plan is the reason for the side’s performance, as well as saying that he prefers to speak less due to criticism.

“I don’t think the game plan is the problem,” he said. “I know how things are going.

“At the moment anything I say is wrong, and they say that I always make up excuses so I prefer to speak less.”

The Inter coach then went on to discuss reasons as to why Rodrigo Palacio is not starting, as well as saying that his side’s recent form isn’t just about injury problems.

“Palacio has just come back from a lengthy injury,” he said. “The player himself knows that he is not fully fit.

“The same can be said for [Gary] Medel, both of them are recovering from injuries.

“It’s a good thing that the international break is coming up because Palacio will be able to return to full fitness.

“However, the problems are not just injuries, we are in a difficult period.

“Thankfully though, we are still in the sixth matchday.”
