Mertens - Verona v NapoliNapoli winger Dries Mertens has highlighted the importance of the Azzurri’s victory over Slovan Bratislava in their UEFA Europa League encounter after recent struggles.

The Partenopei defeated the Slovakian side 2-0 in Bratislava but he said on social media that now his team must focus on Sunday night’s Serie A game against Torino.

“The most important thing was to take the three points and that’s what we did today. [We must] focus on Sunday now,” Mertens said on his Twitter account.

Mertens was a constant threat for Napoli on the left-wing against Slovan Bratislava and he was given a match rating of 6.5 by forzaitalianfootball.com.

The Partenopei now sit on top of Group I in the Europa League with six points from two matches and they are three points clear of Swiss club Young Boys.

Napoli will travel to Switzerland to face Young Boys in Bern in the next round of Europa League fixtures on October 23.
