Ignacio Camacho MalagaNapoli were close to concluding the signing of Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho before the deal broke down this past summer.

The 24-year-old ex-Atletico Madrid player enjoyed a great campaign at La Roselada last season, and attracted the attention of the Italian outfit as well as Porto.

AS report that Napoli were close to nabbing the tough tackling midfielder for a fee of around 7 million, before Malaga rejected the deal.

The Spanish side were under pressure from their fans after selling stars Jesus Gamez, Eliseu and Willy Caballero and did not want to lose another important player.

After failing in their attempts to land Camacho, Napoli went on to sign Espanyol midfielder David Lopez instead.
