Palombo – Sampdoria

Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo has reiterated that he and his teammates cannot afford to dwell on their derby victory over Genoa last Sunday and will approach their match with Atalanta in the same manner that has seen them rise to fifth in Serie A.

Although ‘technically’ the visitors last weekend the Blucerchiati will return to the Luigi Ferraris stadium which they share with their city neighbours on Sunday afternoon and the 33-year-old believes a determination to improve has been key to the resurgence under coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“We do not want to relax after the derby,” Palombo told Samp TV.

“We have seen that all the players of the squad are important and can play, and we will continue on our way with the humility and desire to improve.

“It is unfortunate that Regini and Krsticic are injured because they are important players for our team, but in these are little things in their careers, they are young and still have so much to do.

“Although they are still a few games away, they will surely be there to encourage us and support us.

“Our Sampdoria a surprise? We do say this to others, we are just focused on what we need to do and nothing else.

“I’d like that any surprise was at the end of the season.”
