Club captain Angelo Palombo has revealed this is the strongest Sampdoria side he has played in during his career with the club.
The 33 year old former Italian international is in his 13th season with the club (a brief loan spell at Inter included), having signed with the club from Fiorentina in 2002 and cannot recall a better Doria.
“Is this the best Sampdoria [I’ve been a part of]? At a group level, absolutely yes,” Palombo told Secolo XIX.
“We are aware of our strength, we can play with everyone. But we must keep our feet on the ground.”
Palombo then turned his attention on Wednesday evening’s opponents, Inter, whose coach Walter Mazzarri managed Palombo during his time as Sampdoria boss.
“It was Mazzari who turned me into a different player, he changed completely my prospective career, and he was critical to my growth.”
