Parma coach Roberto Donadoni faces an uncertain future following the 3-1 derby defeat to Sassuolo and has ordered his team to retreat out of the public eye prior to their next fixture.

Donadoni has so far been backed by owner Tomasso Ghirardi to turn things around at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, who was forced last week to deny that a meeting between Parma’s ultras and the playing staff had resulted in the players being threatened, but could now be losing faith in his coach.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, former Livorno coach Davide Nicola, whose side lost to Parma on the final day of last season, is being lined up to replace Donadoni.

Parma may however look closer to home to find a replacement if they choose to dismiss Donadoni, as Sky Sport Italia report that the Crociati may look to their Primavera coach and club legend Hernan Crespo to turn their fortunes around.

Crespo, who played over 150 games for Parma in two spells with the club, took charge of their Primavera side in the summer having retired in 2012.
