Marek Hamsik Napoli 6 Hellas Verona 2Napoli ran rampant against Hellas Verona winning 6-2 at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday afternoon in Serie A.

A hat-trick from Gonzalo Higuain, a brace from Marek Hamsik and a goal from Jose Callejon was too much to handle for Hellas Verona who scored two through Emil Hallfredsson and Nicolas Lopez.

Napoli

Rafael Cabral – 5.5 – Solid

Could do nothing with the two goals scored against him but saved all else that came his way.

Christian Maggio – 6 – Runner

Kept bombing forward whenever the opportunity came and contributed attacking.

Raúl Albiol – 6.5 – Commanding

Defended well when required and delivered an assist after an excellent solo run.

Kalidou Koulibaly – 6- Steady

Calmly went about defending and held his own aerially against Luca Toni.

Faouzi Ghoulam – 5.5 – Calm

Did not attack as much as Maggio, but kept things in check on his flank defensively.

David López – 6 – Involved

Had the most amount of touches in the game as he kept things ticking for his side

Jorginho – 5.5 – Hardworker

Effectively close down Hellas Verona players and recycled possession ensuring Napoli dominated the midfield.

José Callejón – 6 – Wasteful

Good link up with fellow attackers but despite scoring one, the young Spaniard was wasteful when presented with chances.

Marek Hamsik – 8 – Star of the Match

The captain led from the front as Napoli turned the match around. Scored a brace and laid out an assist in a game he completely dominated.

Lorenzo Insigne – 6.5 – Mercurial

Was always looking to deliver a pass to his team mates, a combination of bad luck and good goalkeeping denied him a goal and assist.

Gonzalo Higuaín – 7.5 – Clinical

The striker ran Hellas Verona’s defence ragged with his movement. Got his due reward as he scored a clinical second half hat-trick.

Substitutes

Gokhan Inler – 5.5 – Steady

Was brought as a like for like replacement as he kept things steady and stamped his authority on the game.

Dries Mertens – 6 – Willing

The young Belgian ran hard at the Hellas Verona defence to keep them occupied and earned a late penalty

Was brought to ensure he kept things solid at the back.

Game of two halves for the keeper, as he managed a few good saves in the first half but was helpless in the second as Napoli ran rampant.

Ivan Martic – 4 – Ineffective

Despite registering an assist, the Croatian was unable to stem Napoli’s attack from his side as Insigne and Hamsik tore him to shreds.

Rafael Marques – 3.5 – Sloppy

Kept losing track of Higuain and was ultimately made to pay by the striker.

Frederik Sorensen – 3.5 – Average

Had no answer against Napoli’s attack as he was second best to the ball throughout the game.

Vangelis Moras – 3.5 – Poor

Ran ragged by the trio of Hamsik, Insigne and Callejon.

Davide Brivio – 3- Missing

Went completely missing on his flank and gave a free ride to Maggio and Callejon.

Emil Hallfredsson – 4.5 – Jekyll and Hyde

Scored a beautiful goal in the first half and had a complete horror show in the second half, responsible for two goals Hellas Verona conceded.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis – 4 – Bystander

The Greek mid fielder was completely dominated and could not stamp his authority on the game.

Artur Ionita – 4 – Sloppy

Was sloppy when in possession, losing the ball in key areas. Got a yellow card as he left his frustrations get the best of him.

Luca Toni – 4.5 – Quiet

Aside from one chance in the first half which he scuffed nothing went his way and was replaced midway through the second half.

Juanito Gómez – 5- Willing

The forward put in a good shift and tried to break the Napoli defence repeatedly, just was not his day.

Nene – 4.5 – Ineffective

Replaced Toni midway through the second half but did not offer much.

Nico Lopez – 6.5 – Confident

The young striker scored a brilliant individual goal as he attempted to drag his team back in to the game.

Was brought to muster a comeback but barely touched the ball during his cameo.
