Real Madrid are set to compete with Manchester United in the race to secure Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Louis Van Gaal’s side ever since the former Netherlands coach took up his position at Old Trafford and now the Spanish giants are ready to make their move in the next transfer window.

United are rumoured to be ready to part with up to €38 million and offer either Juan Mata or Marouane Fellaini in exchange for the player and according to The Daily Express, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the player in case Sami Khedira decides to leave the club in January.

Since joining the Giallorossi from Dutch giants PSV for €17 million in 2013, Strootman’s stock has risen sharply and he has quickly established himself at the heart of the Roma midfield and he has become highly sought after.
