Roma forward Marco Borriello could make a January move to newly founded MLS franchise New York City FC.

The 32-year-old former Italy international has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting line up at Roma in recent seasons and he has been out on loan several times.

And now, according to IBTimes he could have a future away from the Giallorossi with New York City keen on his signature.

However a move could be difficult as the new franchise already have major stars in the form of Frank Lampard and David Villa, whose wages will take up a large portion of their salary cap.

Borriello has enjoyed spells with no fewer than ten different sides throughout his career including AC Milan, Genoa, Sampdoria, Juventus and he most recently spent the second half of last season on loan with English Premier League outfit West Ham United.
