Belgium and Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has thanked the Giallorossi for providing him the platform from which to fight his way back into the national side.

The 26-year-old scored in Belgium’s 1-1 away draw to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a European qualifier after being left out of the Red Devils squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“I know that I had a bit of luck,” said Nainggolan to La Dernier Heure when speaking about his goal on international duty which went in largely thanks to a mistake from Bosnia goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

“I didn’t think it would go in, but that doesn’t matter as he who doesn’t shoot doesn’t score.

“With Roma I try to score in every game and up to now I’ve already scored a goal and a half.

“But the second was an own goal.”

The Belgian also spoke about his gratitude to the Giallorossi for what they have given him in recent times.

“It’s been very important for me.”

“The first six months were enough for me to force my way back into the national side.

“If the coach had to decide today on a 23-man squad for the World Cup, I would be in it.”
