Roma tracking former Lazio midfielder

Roma are planning a surprise swoop for Hamburg midfielder Valon Behrami when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The 29 year old Swiss international just joined the Bundesliga club from Napoli this past summer, but could be set for a quick return to the peninsula in the new year.

Infoticker.ch report that with German club hovering around the relegation zone in the league, Behrami is disappointed that the club’s promise to be competitive hasn’t been kept.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia is in the market for a tough tackling midfielder, and has pinpointed the Swiss star to reinforce his squad.

The sticking point may be Behrami’s past history with the Giallorossi’s cross-town rivals, having played for Lazio from 2005-2008.
