Ex-Inter star and current Udinese assistant manager Dejan Stankovic admits the Champions League triumph in 2009 with the Nerazzurri was the best moment of his career.

The 36 year old former Serbian captain has joined former boss Andrea Stramaccioni as his no.2 for Udinese this season, and spoke to reporters at Unicredit about that final at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

“You do not play the Champions League at random, in this tournament only the champions can play,” Stankovic said.

“I would not trade all the wins, losses, injuries, disappointments and joys with this trophy, the victory of Champions League was the best moment of my career.

“We played against a great team, but, with all due respect for Bayern, we were focused only on ourselves.

“We all had only one wish. All those emotions, the joy, exploded together in me and all my mates at the final whistle.”
