Luca Toni heaped praise on Hellas Verona’s team spirit following their 1-1 draw with Lazio on Thursday night at the Stadio Bentegodi.
The Gialloblu went one goal down thanks to a Senad Lulic goal, before Toni brought his side level with a penalty on the 69th minute.
“The result was important because we had lost badly to AC Milan and Napoli,” Toni told Mediaset Premium
“We were not having a good game, but it was important to score points against a fit and strong Lazio outfit. Then came the goal, so I’m happy.
“We are a team that has to fight for every ball and get to 40 [points] as soon as possible.
“It was important to get a positive result. That was a tough game today, we had two bad defeats and this showed a sign of unity.
“It was important [to score] because it served to give us a point. It was a good penalty kick .
“Now we will prepare for Cesena and I will try to score another goal.”
