AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has praised Philippe Mexes and Stephan El Shaarawy after they helped his side earn a point in a 2—2 draw at Sampdoria, on Saturday night in Serie A.

“ I did congratulate those who have placed less like Mexes who had a great game,” Inzaghi said to Sky Sport Italia.

“I told him that these are the matches, do not judge him for his goal but for his effort. His talent is not to be discussed.”

The Italian international had put AC Milan a goal up inside ten minutes with a wonderful strike but were pegged back just before halftime.

“I thought we could score again and I could see the second goal. We can do more, we need to improve, but I liked the spirit. We have had very good play in attack and playing Sampdoria at this stage is not easy,” said Inzaghi.

The AC Milan coach took the positives out of the match after last weekend’s disappointing loss at home to Palermo and can see his team growing.

“With Palermo something unthinkable happened, we scored an own goal and conceded after their first shot on goal.

“I am very pleased [tonight], we deserved to win.

“Playing like this we will become a very good team. I’m sorry because we deserved to win and there is some disappointment about that. Little by little we will grow more and more.”
