Inter prodigy Federico Bonazzoli was full of praise of his coach Walter Mazzarri, after his side’s 1-1 Europe League draw to French club Saint-Etienne.

The highly regarded 17-year-old was impressive in his European debut last night, playing from the start before being replaced after 66 minutes for midfielder Joel Obi.

Speaking after the match Bonazzoli was delighted he was given the opportunity by his manager, and also revealed his side deserved to take all three points.

“I’m happy. I did what was asked by the coach and I want to thank him [Mazzarri] for giving me the opportunity to play,” Bonazzoli said.

“Mazzarri allowed me to play from the first minute in a game as important as this match was pleasing.

“In my modest opinion we dominated. I do not think we could do better.”

Bonazzoli has made two appearances in all competitions this season and has often drawn similar comparisons to former Inter forward Christian Vieri.
