Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has sent a message of support to his home-town of Carrara, which has been hit by flooding and bad weather over the past few days.

The Italian veteran took to his official Facebook page to express his sadness of the natural disaster.

“I have read and seen pictures of what happened in Carrara and surrounding areas,” the statement read. “It is difficult to explain what you feel when you see your devastated city and your fellow on his knees in front of the fury of the storm.

“But I also know the spirit of sacrifice present in every one of those people and that makes me very hopeful to restart immediately daily activities . I even at a distance you are near Carrara … NEXT! Do not give up! ”
