Former Juventus and current Delhi Dynamos striker Alessandro Del Piero has been criticized by the Indian press after failing to register a goal or assist from the club’s opening six matches.

The Italian, who is the captain of the Delhi based side and also the highest paid footballer in the league, has struggled to leave his mark at the club as the Delhi side have only registered one win to start the season.

As a result The Times of India have criticized Del Piero’s efforts as he has failed to impress unlike other stars such as Elano or David Trezeguet.

“He has not played as much as he has wanted to,” the story read.

“When on the pitch, the 39 year old player has only appeared as a pale shadow of his former glory.

“Being the face of the Indian Super League and the highest paid footballer in the tournament, there was more expected from him.”
