Luigi Di Biagio ItalyItaly U21 coach Luigi Di Biagio praised his squad’s character and he believes it is an important attribute in aiding their development as a team.

The coach was speaking after the Azzurrini’s 6-1 friendly win over Lega Pro outfit Lupa Roma.

“This game [against Lupa Roma] offered some important insights,” said Di Biagio to the FIGC’s official website.

“Lupa Roma are doing well in Lega Pro and we played very well, both in terms of our rhythm but also our mentality and level of desire,” he said.

“I would like to concentrate above all on the attack, seeing as we created lots.

“I am happy today, the team is growing.

“Mentality counts and today we did very well even if it was against a less prestigious opponent.”

The coach was also asked if he plans to make many changes to his midfield in the run-up to the 2015 European U21 Championship in the Czech Republic.

“There are lots of solutions that we could put on the pitch but we have little time and therefore I prefer to put my faith in the usual players.”

Di Biagio also spoke about young Inter striker Federico Bonazzoli who scored against the Roman side.

“He has been performing very well, both in training and in matches.”
