Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola was happy with his side’s 2-0 victory over Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and wasn’t expecting another 7-1 scoreline.
Goals from Franck Ribery and Mario Goetze gave the Germans a comfortable win and saw them qualify for the next round of the tournament.
“The 7-1 was more of a coincidence, something like this happens once in a lifetime,” Guardiola told the press.
“Roma didn’t want to suffer again so they played very defensive, with six defenders. Nevertheless we were dominant, especially in the second half.”
